Welcome to Ms. Mason’s PC Social Studies class!
As your teacher, I am looking forward toHave a year that includes both learning and fun. This is a PC class and as such, I expect ALL students to work to their full potential. I expect students to do more than the bare minimum and to constantly strive to achieve the very best that they are capable of. I expect their work to be thorough, timely, neat, and completed with thoughtfulness.
Additionally, because Current Events are an integral part of Social Studies content, I expect students to keep informed about the news by watching or listening to the news on a regular basis. There is much going on in both our country and our world that will affect them both now and in the years to come. Today's students are tomorrow's leaders, idea-generators, and problem solvers. As such, they need to begin now the process of becoming and staying informed. I would prefer that they watch, read, or listen to a variety of news sources. There is always more than one viewpoint for every news event, political platform, or issue and they need to be fully informed about all sides of an issue before they can make a reasoned opinion based on a fact.
I anticipate a year of hard work, much growth, and, hopefully, some fun along the way as we strive to accomplish our objectives of learning the curriculum, exceeding on the CRCT, and learning more about ourselves and our capabilities.great summer!!
